2/07 North Minneapolis Neighbors for Peace (NMplsPax) is inactive.

12/05 The group has been inactive for some time but the mailing list is
still functional tho few messages have been posted.

8/16/04
The group continues to be active.  Meetings are generally held monthly and
are attended by a core of folks.

To have peace we need justice.  One area where justice has eroded was
discussed at the 3/29/03 conference :

Issues & Actions Defending Our Rights, Restoring Democracy
o MASTER OF CEREMONIES was our own - MN State Representative
  Keith Ellison from near north Minneapolis
o Introduction to the Issues of Corporations and Democracy by Betsy Barnum
o Keynote speech by John Nichols, co-author of the recent book:
  _Our Media, Not Theirs: The Democratic Struggle Against Corporate Media_

The conference including these is expected to be available on videotape
  for $5.00 at Altera Vista and on Mpls cable channel 17 some time

candlelight globalvigil site

Some of us from the newly formed North Minneapolis Neighbors for Peace are
joining the wave of candlelight vigils that will circle the globe this
Sunday.  This is going to be a massive global event. Already -- just since
Tuesday -- 1,605 vigils have been scheduled in 77 countries. You can see
what vigils have been scheduled in other areas, and sign up for one, at:

The vigil was a great success, about 50 people held candles - some on each

Paulette Sankofa of the north Mpls organization, Colorful Threads
has become co-director of Women Against Military Madness
Way to go Paulette.  The WAMM website has info on the day of / after an
attack protest contingency plans.
